In the spirit of Wes Anderson: Starting from the gorge on the right, the route begins by scaling a buttress, preparing you for the challenging section situated directly above the lake's waters. After crossing three bridges, you can choose to enter the József Szabó Memorial Route or tackle the grueling Ördögkatlan (Devil's Cauldron) route. ÖRDÖGKATLAN – "E": We recommend this section—featuring a vertical climb followed by a traverse—to experienced, strong climbers. This smooth wall section demands specialized footwork techniques. For experienced climbers only!

The marked parking spot is free, it has a restaurant next to it. Take the short, marked trail up to the tarn, where gear rental is possible.

Frequently asked
questions

The official difficulty rating of this route is D. However, the climbing community rates it more like C.

Not recommended. The difficulty D (rated by the community as C) requires previous experience, strength and confidence on rock. A beginner could struggle and potentially block themselves or other climbers.

This is a very short local or training route. The approach takes 20 min, the actual climbing takes about 20 min and the descent takes 5 min. The whole activity can be completed in under an hour (approximately 45 minutes). Ideal for a quick workout after work.

This route is mainly a traverse. Although the secured section is 150 meters long, it only gains 20 meters of elevation. Most of the movement is sideways rather than vertical.

The route is technically and physically very demanding (difficulty D), but relatively short. It requires explosive strength and a strong grip, while overall endurance is less important.

The essentials are a certified via ferrata set (energy absorber), climbing helmet, climbing harness and sturdy footwear. Via ferrata gloves are also strongly recommended. Due to the difficulty level D, we recommend bringing a resting sling for safer and more comfortable breaks.
